Our Currency Exchange Counters offer a safe and convenient foreign currency exchange service, handling 21 currencies. You can handle all currencies at the airports / in major spots such as Ginza, Asakusa, Shinjuku, Umeda, Kyoto, etc. before you leave for overseas or when you return to Japan.

  • Some Currency Exchange Counters may offer different rates due to a campaign, etc.

  • SMBC Trust Bank handles Chinese Yuan offshore only and uses 'CNY' to denote RMB(Renminbi) funded in the offshore market, based on the currency code used on the global settlement system, while onshore RMB circulates on Mainland China.

Notes

Notes on using the Currency Exchange Counters

  • The Currency Exchange Counters only exchange with yen cash. Services as deposit/withdrawals to PRESTIA accounts are not available. Services at the Currency Exchange Counters differ from services at PRESTIA branches.
  • When you sell a foreign currency you have purchased at a Currency Exchange Counter, the yen amount you receive per unit of that currency may be lower than the yen amount you paid per unit when you purchased that currency depending on changes in the exchange rate.
  • When buying or selling a foreign currency, foreign currency buying and selling spread (including foreign exchange fees) is added to our TTM rate. (Please see the table of "List of Currencies Handled".)
  • The Currency Exchange Counters handle only notes, not coins, either for buying or selling a currency.
  • Please be noted that when handling your transaction, we may ask you to present below documents depending on the circumstances. We may also make a photocopy of them. If you do not show us requested documents or for other reasons, we may decline your transaction.

      • *For corporate customers, the identification documents of the person visiting the Currency Exchange Counter and a corporate identity verification document such as certificate of registered matters etc. are necessary.   2. Documents that serve as evidences of the transaction purpose and background, for example
    • Overseas travel: Invoice for travel expenses, Itinerary, etc.
    • Overseas business trip: Business trip itinerary, Document issued by the company indicating the period of business trip, etc.
    • Overseas assignment: Visa (work visa), Document issued by the company indicating the period and location of the assignment, etc.
    • Studying abroad: School admission, Visa (student visa), etc.
    • Purchase or sale of products: Invoice, etc.
