System Transition Schedule

QWhat is the service schedule before and after the system transition?
A

Services will temporarily be suspended during the following hours due to the work involved in the system transition.

  • *1Call acceptance for lost or stolen cash cards will be suspended from 20:00 on Friday, July 13 and be reactivated at 8:00 on Monday, July 16 (public holiday) at 0120-110-330 or 046-401-2126 (charges apply). 【 From overseas: 81-46-401-2126 (charges apply)】
  • *2PRESTIA Online Helpdesk will be suspended from 16:30 on Friday, July 13 and be reactivated at 20:00 on Monday, July 16 (public holiday) at 0120-41-0956. 【From overseas: 81-46-401-2106 (charges apply)】

PRESTIA Alert Service email to notify an order watch execution and order monitoring hours.

To make new Order Watch orders, to cancel orders or to change validity periods via all transaction channel (PRESTIA Phone banking, Branches and mini branches and Internet banking) will not be available during the above service suspension hours. However, order monitoring that is a judgment concerning whether the limit order conditions have been met will be made between the afternoon of Friday, July 13, 2018 and 5:00 a.m. of Saturday July 14, 2018, and on and after 7:00 a.m. of Monday July 16, 2018.

Usually, orders that are judged to have met the limit order conditions are executed when such conditions are met. However, orders that are judged to have met the conditions before 5:00 a.m. of Saturday July 14, 2018 will be executed on Monday, July 16, 2018, instead of when the order conditions are met. An alert service email to notify an order watch execution will be sent to customers who are using this service, but the "time/date of execution" in the alert email will be that on July 16, 2018.

PRESTIA Alert Service email to notify an order watch expiry

An alert service email to notify an order watch expiry, which is usually sent three business days prior to the expiry date, will not be sent for orders that expire on Tuesday, July 17, 2018 and Wednesday, July 18, 2018. The distribution of an alert email for order watch expiry will resume at 8:30 on Monday, July 16, 2018 for orders that expire on or after Thursday, July 19, 2018.

Registered payees for the overseas remittance service

For customers who opened an account on or after Friday, June 8, 2018 and registered payees for the overseas remittance service, these payees will not be displayed on PRESTIA Online/PRESTIA Mobile (Internet Banking) from Monday, July 16, 2018 (when the Internet Banking service resumes) until 5:00 of Wednesday, July 18, 2018. Please note that the registered payees will be displayed again after 5:00 of Wednesday, July 18, 2018.

QWhy is the transition to the new system being done now?

In order to minimize the impacts of the system transition on customers, preparations have been carried out since November 2015. Now that the preparations are completed, the system transition will be implemented.

QWhy is the transition to the new system necessary?
A

In order to offer customers a wider range of services in Japan, the system will be transitioned to the system used by the SMBC Group.

During the transition to the new system, all services listed below will be suspended, from the evening of Friday July 13, 2018 through Monday July 16 (public holiday), 2018.

  • Branches/mini branches services
  • PRESTIA Phone Banking services
  • ATM (including ATM booth, affiliated ATM and overseas ATM)
  • Internet Banking

We are planning to revise or terminate several services. Please read the details.

Required Procedure

QI have an account with SMBC Trust Bank. Is there anything I need to do?
A

For customers who will be required to perform the particular procedure, specific notification has been distributed to the affected customers and there are nothing for other customers to perform for system transition. However, since there are partial service changes, like intermediary bank, which need to be changed for the customers who have any plan of remittance from overseas, and please refer to the notification for more details.

QI have heard that nothing will change as a result of the merger. Is this true?
A

In order to offer customers a wider range of services in Japan, the system will be transitioned to the system used by the SMBC Group. There are no significant changes on our services but are partial changes, like the remittance information from overseas. For the details, please refer to the notification.

Notifications

Yen Deposit

QWill there be any changes to the interest payment date and interest calculation for Yen Savings and PRESTIA MultiMoney Yen Savings Deposit?
A

Interest payments will be changed from monthly to bi-annually in February and August.
Interest will be calculated when the final daily balance of an account has at least 1,000 yen.

QWill there be any changes to PRESTIA e-Savings?
A
  • The name will be changed to Yen Savings Account, but it will be possible to continue using the current account.
  • For customers whose first account with the bank was a PRESTIA e-Savings Account, the account maintenance fee will continue to be waived.
QWill there be any changes to the timing when the maturity instructions can be changed for the Super Teiki Time Deposit?
A

When auto rollover is selected for the time deposit upon maturity, it will be possible to cancel these instructions up to the business day prior to the maturity date.

QWill there be any changes to the timing when the maturity instructions can be changed for the Oguchi Teiki Time Deposit?

QWill there be any change to Yen Checking Account?
A
  • Cash withdrawals can be available only at Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation ATMs, a part of major banks, and regional banks.
  • Deposits and withdrawals will not be available at Seven Bank ATMs and the Japan Post Bank ATMs.
  • Deposits can be made at Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation ATMs from 8:45 to 15:00. (Withdrawals can be made at any time during ATM open hours.)
  • A domestic service “J-Debit” will not be available.
  • Yen Checking Account Banking Card will no longer be usable for withdrawals in local currencies at overseas ATMs. To withdraw local currencies overseas as an individual customer, please use your Yen Savings Account Banking Card.
  • Customers who currently register Yen Checking Account as the registered account on PRESTIA Online / PRESTIA Mobile (Internet Banking) are asked to re-register as a user with a Yen Savings Account before the system transition. If you do not have a Yen Savings Account, please open and register a Yen Savings Account as a registered account for your User ID.

Foreign Currency Deposits

QWill there be any changes to interest payment and calculation of PRESTIA Multimoney Foreign Currency Deposit Account?
A
  • Frequency of interest payments will be changed from every business day to monthly.
  • The interest payable for the relevant month* will be deposited on the first business day of the following month. Withdrawing is available from the interest payment date.
    • *The term running from the date of the previous interest payment to the day prior to the current interest payment date.
  • Regarding fractional amounts to the right of the decimal point in the foreign currency interest amount, presently the third digit from the decimal point is rounded, but it will be rounded down.
QWill there be any changes to Order Watch?
A
  • The South African Rand will be newly added to the available transaction currencies.
  • Funds may be transferred to other accounts even though orders are placed and effective. However, please note that even though the market rate matches your Order Rate, the order will be automatically cancelled in case of insufficient account balance. Please make sure you have enough funds in your account when you use the service.
  • It is possible to set the order expiry date from the day following the registration date. (Excluding Sundays and January 1st)
  • The time during which a judgment is made concerning whether the order conditions have been met (order monitoring time) will be changed from "08:00 Monday morning - 05:00 Saturday morning, in principle" to "07:00 Monday morning - 05:00 Saturday morning, in principle".
    • *Similar to the present situation, there will continue to be other times during which monitoring is not performed, such as national holidays in each country.
  • A transaction advice will no longer be sent by postal mail. However, PRESTIA Alert Service email to notify an order watch execution or expiry will still be available, while the alert service email for an order watch placement, expiry date change and cancellation will be discontinued.
QWill there be any changes to the U.S. Dollar Savings Account?
A
  • Interest payable for the relevant month* will be deposited on the first business day of the following month. It will be possible to withdraw the interest on the same day it is deposited.
    • *The term running from the date of the previous interest payment to the day prior to the current interest payment date.
  • Regarding fractional amounts to the right of the decimal point in the foreign currency interest amount, presently the third digit from the decimal point is rounded, but it will be rounded down.
  • U.S. Dollar Savings Accounts can be opened by individual customers only.
  • Customers who are presently registered as a PRESTIA Online/PRESTIA Mobile (Internet Banking) user based on a U.S. Dollar Savings Account will need to re-register as a user with a Yen Savings Account on or after July 16, 2018. If you do not currently have a Yen Savings Account, please open one and perform the user registration procedures again with the newly opened Yen Savings Account.

Foreign Currency Time Deposit

QWill there be any changes to the Foreign Currency Time Deposit?
A
  • Regarding fractional amounts to the right of the decimal point in the foreign currency interest amount, presently the third digit from the decimal point is rounded, but it will be rounded down.
  • When auto rollover is selected for the time deposit upon maturity, it will be possible to cancel these instructions up to the business day prior to the maturity date.
  • <Excluding Monthly Smile> When the time deposit will not be automatically rolled over, the principal and interest will be deposited in a lump sum on the maturity date into the PRESTIA MultiMoney Savings Deposit denominated in the deposit currency, and the funds can be withdrawn from the maturity date.
  • <Monthly Smile> When the receipt of monthly interest payments (Monthly Smile) has been selected as the interest payment method for the Foreign Currency Time Deposit, the principal will be deposited into the PRESTIA MultiMoney Savings Deposit denominated in the deposit currency, and the funds can be redeemed from the maturity date. When the receipt of monthly interest payments (Monthly Smile) has been selected, the final interest payment can be withdrawn from the maturity date. The Monthly Smile interim interest payments are made on the last business day of every month, and they can be withdrawn from the following business day.
  • Post-Contract documents issued when contracts are concluded will be sent out for each transaction, even if several transactions are conducted on the same day.
QWill there be any changes to the Step Up Time Deposit?

  • The principal will be deposited in the deposit currency of the PRESTIA MultiMoney Savings Deposit. The funds can be withdrawn from the maturity date. The final interest payment can be withdrawn from the maturity date. Interim interest payments will occur on the final business day of every month, and it will be possible to withdraw these interest payments from the following business day.
  • Regarding fractional amounts to the right of the decimal point in the foreign currency interest amount, presently the third digit from the decimal point is rounded, but it will be rounded down.
  • Post-Contract documents issued when contracts are concluded will be sent out for each transaction, even if several transactions are conducted on the same day.

Premium Deposit

QWill there be any changes to Premium Deposit (Deposit in Japanese yen)?

  • When the deposit upon maturity will be made to a PRESTIA MultiMoney Foreign Currency Savings Deposit that will require a currency conversion, it will be possible to confirm the deposit through PRESTIA Online / PRESTIA Mobile (Internet Banking), etc. after 5:00 am on the business day following the maturity date.
  • When the taxation category is changed after a deposit is made, the taxation category at the time of deposit will be used to calculate the interest payment amount shown on PRESTIA Online / PRESTIA Mobile (Internet Banking) and Bank Statement. Actual amount of interest payment will be calculated using the taxation category after the change.
  • Post-Contract documents issued when contracts are concluded will be sent out for each transaction, even if several transactions are conducted on the same day.
  • The alert email to notify maturity will no longer be sent.

Loan

You can check "PRESTIA MultiMoney Credit" balance on "Balance Summary" menu of PRESTIA Online, and other outstanding loan balances (such as Housing Loan) via "Statement" menu*.

QWhat time will the withdrawal be made on the repayment date for Housing Loans and other loans?
A

The time the withdrawal is made on the repayment date will be changed. Presently, the withdrawal has been made at night on the repayment date, but after system transition, the withdrawal will be made early in the morning on the repayment date.

QWill there be any changes to handling of interest calculations for Housing loan, etc?
A

In the monthly payment of interest, a fractional amount of less than 1 yen is added to interest for the following month.

(After change)

The above fractional amount of less than 1 yen will be discarded, and not carried over to the following month.

QWill there be any changes to matters related to early payment for Housing loan, etc?
A
  • Partial repayment method (reduced period type) will be changed.
    (Current)
    1. The payable amount is specified in units of 1 yen.
    2. In case a bonus repayment balance remained, prioritized for the bonus repayment portion is repaid first.
    3. Accrued interest is paid on the next scheduled payment date.
    (After change)
    1. The payable amount will be in units of the cumulative amount of the principal to be paid.
    2. If bonus payments are used, the payable amount will be in units of the cumulative amount for six months' worth of principal to be paid for the monthly portion and the bonus portion.

Changes will be made to the loan account number scheme.

An 8-digit account number is associated with each loan.

(After change)

One account number will be associated with each customer. Loans will be identified with handling numbers.

  • *Account numbers will consist of 7 digits. The new numbers will consist of current account numbers with the second digit from the left deleted.
  • *In case multiple loans are contracted, the lowest of the loans' account numbers will be used for creating the new account number.
QWill there be any changes to payment of delinquency charges for Premium loan?

The payment date for any delinquency charges will be changed.

Payment is made on the contractual payment date.

QWill there be any changes to interest calculation for Premium loan?

Interest calculation is performed using accumulated daily interest (calculated to 7 decimal places), with fractional interest amounts carried over to the next calculation.

Interest will be calculated as the balance × interest rate × number of days÷365, with amounts of less than 1 yen discarded.

QWill there be any changes to units for calculation of interest for Premium loan?

The unit of principal subject to calculation of interest will be changed from 1 yen to 100 yen.

QWill there be any changes to PRESTIA Multimoney Credit?

  • When calculating interest, amounts of less than 1 yen (or less than the auxiliary currency unit in the case of borrowings in foreign currency) will be discarded.
  • The interest calculation period will be from the first business day of the month to the day before the first business day of the next month, and the day on which interest adds to the principal will be the first business day of the next month.
  • Transactions occurring between 0:00 and 24:00 will be handled as transactions on that day. The same will apply to Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays.
QWill there be any changes to the interest amount?

QCan I continue to use my current PRESTIA Visa CARD?

Yes. You can continue to use your PRESTIA Visa CARD as before.

No. You can still use the application form you already have to apply for a card.

QWill there be any changes to the PRESTIA Visa CARD and its services?

One of the conditions will change on PRESTIA rewards, which enables card holders to acquire “World Present Point” based on eligible banking transaction. The transaction amount of eligible Mutual Fund products will include purchase fee and tax in addition to purchase amount.

QCan the money be withdrawn if they are deposited at night or on Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays?

The money can be withdrawn immediately after being transferred to a cash card account at night or on Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays (during ATM operating hours).

QWill the bank code (financial institution code for domestic fund transfer) change as a result of the system transition? Will the branch codes change?

The bank code for domestic fund transfer will remain 0300.
Also, the branch codes will remain the same.

QFollowing the system transition, will there be any changes to the branch names or account numbers?
A

There will be no changes to the savings and checking account numbers and branch names.
The account numbers for mutual funds will change.

QI am using automatic withdrawals (direct debit / Bill payment) for my utility charges. Is there anything I need to do?
A

No, there is nothing you are required to do.

QWill there be any changes to the transfer fee for bank transfers to Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation?
A

The service fee will be discounted when transferring funds to Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation.

The timing at which you receive the documents may change. Also, customers who are receiving an e-Statement will no longer receive e-Statement by email and notifications of the issuance history by postal mail.

QWill there be any changes to Domestic ATMs?

  • SMBC Trust Bank ATMs will be eliminated, and Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation ATMs will be installed inside SMBC Trust Bank branches. You can still make deposits and withdrawals, transfer funds and make balance inquiries using Banking Card as before. However, services will be limited during certain hours, such as between midnight and early morning on weekends.
  • Cash withdraw and deposits are available at the approximately 6,000 Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation ATMs located in Japan (charge free). Also, you will be able to transfer funds from your account at PRESTIA to another financial institution located in Japan using the Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation ATMs (service fee will be charged). The service fee discount is available for fund transfers to Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation accounts.
  • For PRESTIA GOLD/PRESTIA GOLD PREMIUM customers, service fees for fund transfers using an SMBC Trust Bank Banking Card are free. (A service fee will be deducted when you make a fund transfer, but the same amount will be credited to your account on the same day.) We apologize for any inconvenience, but please conduct fund transfers to registered payees or unregistered payees using PRESTIA Online / PRESTIA Mobile (Internet Banking), which are available for use anytime.

QWill there be any changes to fund transfers using ATMs?

Following the elimination of SMBC Trust Bank ATMs and the introduction of fund transfers using approximately 6,000 Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation ATMs located throughout Japan, the name of the payee when transferring funds will no longer be indicated on Bank Statements or "Activities" on PRESTIA Online / PRESTIA Mobile (Internet Banking). Please check the name of the payee indicated on the receipts you receive when you transfer funds using our ATMs.
In addition, the facility for remittances from non-resident accounts to other banks at SMBC Trust Bank ATMs will be terminated. Please use PRESTIA Online / PRESTIA Mobile (Internet Banking), which is available to make remittances to the pre-registered account 24 hours a day. (Up to 40 remittance recipients can be registered.)

QWill there be any changes to the services available for using Seven Bank ATMs and Japan Post Bank ATMs?

For customers eligible for special benefits, previously, ATM service fees were deducted when you used Seven Bank ATMs or Japan Post Bank ATMs and your account was reimbursed by the same amount later. After the transition, these ATM service fees will be free and no fees will be deducted from your account.

QWill there be any changes to the exchange rate applied when withdrawing local currency using the Banking Card?
A

When you withdraw local currency from an ATM abroad with your Banking Card, the designated rate (the foreign exchange rate set by Visa + 3% of overseas service fee) will be used to convert into yen.

QWill there be any changes to branches?
A

The branches including Akasaka branch, Ikebukuro branch, Gotanda branch, Shinjuku Higashiguchi branch, Fujisawa mini branch, and Fukuoka branch, and Shinjuku Minamiguchi Branch ConsultingCenter (Shinjuku MayndsTower 19F) will be closed at 15:00 on Friday July 13, 2018 and will be relocated on Tuesday July 17, please refer to here.

Cash Card

QWill I still be able to use my current banking card (international cash card) and PRESTIA Gaika Cash Card?
A

Yes, those cards can be continuously used.
(However, if the 7th and 8th digits from the left of the 16-digit number printed on your banking card are "00", it will no longer be possible to use the banking card after the system transition. A new banking card must be issued, so please contact PRESTIA Phone Banking.)

QWill there be any changes to the service fee discount for the cash card?
A

The service fee charged at partner ATMs will be waived when the total average monthly relationship balance was at least 1 million yen equivalent in the “month prior to the previous month“ instead of the “previous month.”

QWill there be any changes to the overseas ATM service fee when withdrawing local currency with using the banking card (international cash card)?
A

You can withdraw cash using overseas ATMs free of charge* that are 200 yen (exclusing tax) per transaction of Banking card or US$2 per transaction of PRESTIA Gaika Cash card. (There may be fees charged by some ATM owners.)

  • *A service fee will be deducted when you withdraw cash using overseas ATMs, but the same amount will be credited to your account later. We will announce more details about the reimbursement of service fees, etc., on our Website, etc.
QWill there be any changes to limit control?
A

The basic structure of limit control, i.e. domestic ATM transfer and domestic overseas ATM withdrawal/J-Debit transaction limits, will be changed. However, you can continue to use the same cash card services after the system transition as before. Please check here for the summary of services available after the system transition.

QWill there be any changes to overseas remittances?
A

Because the intermediary bank will change from Citibank, N.A., Tokyo Branch to Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation, the funds may take slightly longer to arrive or an intermediary bank fee may be deducted, other than those charged by Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation. Please provide the party making the transfer or the sending bank with the SWIFT CODE of the new intermediary bank in advance. New SWIFT CODE is SMBCJPJT.
With this change, the yen fund remittance to an overseas Citibank® branch will be assessed the same fee as the remittances to other overseas banks.

Please provide the following information to the party making the transfer or the sending bank to change the intermediary bank.

  • Checks issued in currencies other than US dollars, British pounds, Euros, Australian dollars, Hong Kong dollars and Singapore dollars will be collected individually. Given this change, the handling fees will also be changed.
  • A service fee will be charged for collecting checks issued by an overseas Citibank® branch, as is the case with checks issued by other foreign financial institutions.
  • The handling fee of the check issuing bank may be deducted from the face value of the check.

  • Bank Statements will be issued in a new format.
  • Closing dates used to issue Bank Statements, which previously varied by customer, will be changed to the last day of each month for all customers.
  • For July, Bank Statements that cover transactions conducted between Saturday, July 14 and Tuesday, July 31 are scheduled to be issued in mid-August. In addition, Bank Statements that cover transactions conducted between Friday, June 1 and Friday, July 13, prior to the system transition, will also be issued in late July in a new format. For customers who have Bank Statements closing dates during this period, Bank Statements in the current format will also continue to be issued until the transition to the new system. They may receive two Bank Statements for the same transaction period (one in the current format and another in a new format). Please be assured that the details of the transactions are same in both statements.
  • Bank Statements with the closing date of August 31, 2018 are scheduled to be issued in mid-September. After that, Bank Statements as of the end of each month will be issued in or about the middle of the following month for all customers. Customers can also view their Bank Statements for past 3 years on PRESTIA Online (Internet Banking), including those issued prior to the system transition.

For the special benefits including reimbursement of the ATM service fee for customers with a total average monthly relationship balance of at least 1 million yen or equivalent, the average balance for the previous month has been used, but it will be changed to the average balance in the month prior to the previous month.

  • *Please note that until the end of July 2018, the total average monthly relationship balance for the previous month (June 2018) will be used. For transactions in and after August 2018, the average balance in the month prior to the previous month will be used.
